Though we missed International Dot Day this year, I decided I couldn't completely pass it up! International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds' book The Dot on September 15, 2009. Dots are so fun and they really can be considered the beginning of the elements. A dot marks the beginning and the end of a line. So... here are KG1, KG2 and KG3 Dots. The students in KG1 put their fine motor skills to the test and used dot stickers and dot markers to decorate a black dot w/ a white background. The students in KG2 used tempera paint mixed as tints to make prints from metal lids and other tools on large white dots, and the students in KG3 drew different types of lines on large white dots, colored with crayons and using the resist technique painted over the waxy crayons with watercolors.
