Here you will find artwork created by students in the Primary Unit from September 2019 through the beginning of March 2020. Primary students begin to learn about key figures in art history in conjunction with learning to identify and create lines, shapes and colors. We concentrate on a lot of fine motor skills practice at this level through the use of tracers, scissors, glue, paper tearing, and proper use of paint brushes, oil pastels and other art supplies. Fine motor skills are important for dexterity and strength which will make learning to write easier. The development of visual-spatial skills (eye-hand coordination) helps to advance the relationship between intuitive, perceptual and rational abilities, thus promoting problem solving skills. Please enjoy the wonderful work of the Primary students! An additional virtual art show of their work done from March to June is in the works!
