Paper Bead Necklace & Pendant Project (copy)

Students learned about the art, technique, and cultural significance of the art of paper bead making. We looked specifically at the organization Bead for Life that teaches women in Uganda to make and sell their paper bead jewelry to help them provide for their families and ultimately end the cycle of poverty in which they experience. Students used paper and paper beading tools to create beautiful paper beads and then added filler beads to create their unique pattern. Students then created a continuous line pendant out of a single wire and used the hammering tools and jewelers blocks to finish out their pendant before attaching.
