Fabric/ Quilted Landscapes

Students were introduced to layering a landscape from a Background to a Foreground while exploring and being inspired by a place they connect to, in some way. Students had to problem-solve how to represent their scene by choosing fabrics and cutting the shapes to represent each layer. Students learned two different embroidery stitches; the Backstitch and the Whip/ Wrap stitch. They applied these stitches to the fabric shapes as they layered the landscape. Students were also asked to learn at least one additional choice stitch for the project.
