In collaboration with our Spanish department, fourth graders created Alibrijés, which are brightly colored Mexican folk art sculptures of fantastical (fantasy/mythical) creatures.  Combining three or more animals, students planned their sculptures by initially creating beautiful drawings of their ideas.  Next, with the combination of newspaper, tape, plaster gauze and paint, students formed their Alibrijé sculptures.
