Havana Nights Art Show

Students in 7th and 8th grade at Rowlett Middle School created some spectacular artworks inspired by cuban culture through the artwork of Rene Portocarrero and Amelia Pelaez.  Both artist used bright colors, quasi-abstract compositions that featured decorative objects and ornamental architectural motifs.  Both artists are famous for using the traditional domestic interiors of Havana as inspiration. Students chose to work 2D or 3D using mixted media to create the projects.
