Art Funds - Abstract Sculptures

Students learned about the work of Henry Moore and designed their own abstract sculptures based on the human figure, after studying various poses and completing a series of gesture drawings. After refining the design, students carved the sculpture out using a variety of tools. The sculpture was then gessoed and painted to look like a variety of metals and stones. Students learned about subtractive sculpture, gesture drawings, and how the human figure has been portrayed in sculptures throughout history.
