Pinch Pot Creations 4th grade

Students were introduced to Ceramics. We looked at Native American pottery and other sculptures. Then, they practiced pinch pot techniques using modeling clay. The next class, we used white clay to create a new pinch pot. They could change their pinch pot into another creation, like an animal, cupcake, or leave it as a basic pinch pot. They also had to attach pieces using the slip and score method. We waited until they were bisque fired and added acrylic paint. We also discussed our arts purpose of being functional or decorative.
