1st and 2nd grade Sphere Snowman

Students were introduced to the medium clay. We practiced experimenting with forms using modeling clay. They had to make a sphere, cone, cylinder and a cube. Once students could create basic forms, we used white clay to make snowman. Students had to attach pieces using slip and score. We poked holes on the sides for arms to be added later and a hole on the bottom of the largest sphere to allow steam to escape in the kiln. Once the pieces were bisque fired, we used acrylic paint on our creations.
