Gee's Bend Paper Quilts

In this lesson, students learned about the history of paper and how to make their own handmade papers. Once they completed multiple papers, students learned about the quilts of Gee's Bend, Alabama, and the African American artists of that region. Then students designed their own quilts and recreated them in collage form cutting shapes from their handmade papers.
