The Logan-Hocking Middle School Honors Art 8 students spent time researching and discussing the work of Judith Bergerson and other artists in regards to the subject of seed pods. Composition choices, color palettes, value and texture ranges were topics of conversation in addition to style and technique choices.
The students were given the challenge of creating their own “Seed Pod” compositions using the medium choices of oil pastels, soft pastels, or tempera paint . After exploring their options through several planning sketches, all students were given a sheet of 16” x 20” 90 lb. drawing paper and began their challenge.
The work here represents a selection of some of the work that was created. Our studio is one of supportive conversation and spontaneous peer critique along with daily input from their Visual Arts teacher, Mrs. Lehman.
