Art 2: Watercolor and Contour Lines

In the 1st Nine Weeks of school, Art 2 students spent some time learning about the Elements of Art and Principles of Design. They then focused on LINE. Students practiced drawing several simple still life setups using the following types of lines: regular contour lines, continuous line, blind contour, and non-dominant hand. Finally, they selected an object to draw for their final project. They practiced drawing and overlapping their object to create smaller shapes across their page. By repeating and overlapping their object, and using a limited palette of colors, students created an abstracted piece where object and background become indistinguishable. Students started drawing their object on 8/15 and the last day to finish painting was 9/20.
