4th grade Winter Cityscapes

First the students were asked to design a unique cityscape with various doors, windows, and interesting architectural elements. Then they learned how to create a graded wash and a variegated wash using watercolors. They chose their favorite to create the sky. Next, they used oil pastels to create a sense of light on their buildings, and they added snow flakes and/or glittery snow effects on the buildings. They were encouraged to follow the steps and suggestions, but to make these their own.
