Students created a positive/negative sugar skull. On a strip of black paper, students will draw half of a skull. After quick discussion on facial proportions, they cut out facial features- nose, mouth, eyes. They glued each layer on to white paper, flipping back and forth on the line of symmetry- which changes their shapes from positive to negative space. Looking at references of decorative sugar skulls, students will add embellishments using metallic markers.
