Here is a collection of some of the art we were able to create this year!
3D paper sculpture, inspirational rock painting (rocks displayed outside our elementary building!), circular "dot" projects, self-portraits, paper weaving, drawing lines, shapes and patterns; shading, collage, creating landscapes, learning about the color wheel--warm and cool colors, complementary colors, mixing paint to create colors or "values" of colors; abstract painting, making our own painted paper, drawing with pencils, crayons, markers, oil and chalk pastels; printmaking, paper weaving, and practicing the important tracing, cutting, and gluing skills.
Some artists that we learned about were: Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, Grandma Moses, Robert Indiana, and Vincent Van Gogh. Some classes were able to create a "Doodle for Google" and several doodles were entered into the contest! There were a few projects that made their way home already, but all your students' artwork will be returned at the end of the school year. It was an amazing privilege to be able to teach your children this past school year!
