Wild Thing Collages

First grade students were introduced to the classic book Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. The students will created a unique “Wild Thing” inspired from Sendak’s book. The students incorporated their “Wild Things” into collage backgrounds. A variety of elements of art and principles of design were utilized and reviewed within this unit of study. The students continued to see connections between literature and Art within this unit.
