3rd Grade River of Words Artwork

3rd Grade students created drawings and paintings on the theme of water and conservation.

Students took part in a class discussion of what conservation is and were asked to make paintings and drawings around the theme of water and conservation.  Students were introduced to the River of Words poetry and art contest.

The River of Words Project is a FREE program designed to help K-12 students understand their sense of place by studying a watershed in their own environment then expressing what they discover through poetry and art.  The art and poetry can then be entered into a state-wide contest" (https://projectwet.georgia.gov/ga-river-words).

Students could choose to select a reference image for their artwork or use their imagination.  Students were asked to include the following in their work:

-Drawing that is on a theme (water and conservation)
- Students could use a variety of materials (paint, colored pencil, permanent marker, etc.)
-Effort & Craftsmanship
