This Art Showcase is all about another art element: SHAPE! Students learned that shapes are closed figures created with lines. We reviewed 2-D shapes like square, rectangle, circle, triangle, oval, octagon, & hexagon. Second graders learned that 2-D shapes can be either organic or geometric. Geometric shapes have names and usually have straight sides; however, organic shapes do not have names, usually have curved sides, and are found in nature. Students learned that we can draw *hard* things by simply combing shapes that we already know how to draw! We're also working on filling the entire space of our paper, which, most times, is very difficult for our growing artists!
