Ms. Tooley and I are thrilled to share with you the exciting artistic journey our second-grade students had in music and art class. In music class, they had the pleasure of immersing themselves in the captivating melodies of "Rhapsody in Blue." This iconic piece by George Gershwin stirred their imaginations, inviting them to explore the realm of abstract expression.

Following this inspiring musical experience, in art class, our students viewed the works of renowned artists Wassily Kandinsky and Moe Brooker. These masters of abstract art provided insight into the use of color, form, and emotion in visual expression.

Drawing from both their musical and artistic explorations, our students eagerly embraced the opportunity to create their own abstract masterpieces. With instruments and art materials in hand, they translated the rhythms and harmonies of "Rhapsody in Blue" into vibrant compositions, filled with inspiration from Kandinsky and Brooker.

The resulting artworks are a testament to their creativity, imagination, and newfound appreciation for the beauty of abstract expression.
