Create a continuous line contour drawing of the person sitting across from you. Include details in their clothing and things you see in the background behind them. Draw only the contour lines. Remember, contour lines are the outlines of objects that give it shape. Contour lines define the outline of a form as well as the interior structure without the use of shading. Leave large open spaces - We will be painting these images. It is important that you create closed shapes while you are creating the drawing - The continuous line naturally creates closed shapes. Keep your eyes up while drawing, DO NOT LOOK AT YOUR PAPER. Draw a rough draft in your sketchbook BEFORE moving to LARGE PAPER. (Once you have exhibited that you understand the directions, you will be given a large paper to work with.) USE THE ENTIRE PAGE & CONSIDER COMPOSITION - Include details that will make the image interesting. We will paint the Face, Hair, Background, and clothing as "sections". Each section will be a collection of analogous hues in the either warm or cool color family. The areas adjacent to each section will be the opposing color family. For example, A warm face will have cool hair and a warm background. Each shape will contain a different color. Do not paint two adjacent shapes in the same section with the same color. *Do not paint two shapes in adjacent sections with colors from the same color family. *Consider spending a day on warm colors and the next day on cool colors
