Students studied different methods of creating sculpture, how figurative sculpture evolved throughout history and how contemporary artists approach this subject. The assignment was to create a representation of the human figure in students’ individual style (realistic, abstract or stylized). Based on the type of clay students had available they used different techniques and different coloring mediums to create their sculptures.
ONLINE students used an additive method and acrylic paint to create their sculptures. Students used air-dry clay.
IN-PERSON students used a combination of slab technique and additive method, and traditional glazes to create their sculptures. They used low-fire clay.
