Grade 2 - Pumpkins at Midnight!

First, the students used observational drawing, which means they looked really closely at a real pumpkin to see all its details—like the bumps, the stem, and the shape. They didn’t just draw what they thought a pumpkin looked like, they drew what they saw.

After observational drawing, they used glue to outline their drawing. Once it dried, the glue made the edges of the pumpkin stand out more. It helped them stay inside the lines when they colored!

Then they  used chalk pastels to color our  pumpkins. They added highlights where the light hits the pumpkin and shadows where it’s darker. This made the pumpkin look round and real, like it’s popping off the paper!
