About this School Project (2nd Australian Kangaroo Landscape)
Students have been studying the culture, animals, and peoples of Australia. In this lesson, students learned about landscapes and space with a foreground, middle ground, and background. First, we drew Ayers Rock in the Outback. Next, we added a horizon line to separate the earth from the sky. We then added lines on the ground to show that as the lines get closer together near the horizon lines, helps us see it is further away. We then added plants on the ground, drawing them larger at the bottom because we closer to them, and smaller as they go up the page. Next, students used warm colored crayons and paint to show that Ayers rock is 3D, and added a sunset, as well as a warm ground color. Lastly, we drew or traced Kangaroos in black paper, learning what a silhouette is, and glued them on to show space and distance as well as proportion. What is your favorite outback animal?
