My passion for art extends throughout my life as a young artist in elementary school through graduate school. At Episcopal Collegiate School I am the AP Art Studio Instructor and I teach three levels of each of the following courses: Drawing, Painting, Media Art, Printmaking, Sculpture, Convergent Technology, and Fashion Design. I have two new 3-D printers and a couple of sewing machines to mix it up even more in my studio. In addition, I advise the Upper School Art Club, Culinary Club, and help promote and participate in local and state student art shows and competitions. I have been teaching for 27 years and have a masters degree in visual arts. Honors and Awards: City of Little Rock Teachers Award 2017, Arkansas Secondary Art Educator of the Year- 2015, Jackson T.Stephen's Teacher of the Year Award-2013, Arkansas Governor's School Teacher Recognition, Presidential Scholars Teachers Recognition- 2005 and American Star Teaching Award-2005, Whos? Who in Americas Teachers, and a Photography and Poetry Grant, I was selected to write art lessons for the PUBLISHED NAEA Writer (IRG - Instructional Resource Gallery). I am a Co-President of the ChoiceArt NAEA Special Interest Group and a regular contributor on my blog and twitter. #artsed #K12artchat #ChoiceArt https://schultzjoy.wordpress.com/
My teaching experience includes teaching in public schools and independent schools K-12. I taught at the University School of Milwaukee, a PK-12 college prep school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I continue to create art outside of my teaching responsibilities to grow as an artist and to donate art work to help raise funds for local charities.
I believe art and artists can positively impact the world and we are doing our very best at Episcopal Collegiate to make it happen.
