Hello AJ friends and family,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. My name is Naresa Cassady and I will be your child/ren’s art teacher this year. I have been teaching in the District for over 20 years but this will be my first full year in art. I hold a BS in Elementary Ed, a Masters in Teacher Leadership and am currently working on my last two classes for my Art Endorsement. My goal is to help children love art by creating positive experiences, outlets for stress management, and a safe place to ge ... read moret creative.
This year, we will be working on 9 Art Units (1 a month) and creating a project for each. The Units will consist of art history, style and elements, and materials and design. I have room to display two classes from each grade level in the hall each month and will choose a few projects from the other classes to be displayed throughout the community. After displayed, all projects will be stored in your child/ren’s art portfolio until the end of the year.
I will be using a program called Artsonia to share with you a digital portfolio of completed work. As long as you sign up and give permission, you will have the opportunity to order a variety of items from plates and mugs to keychains and posters with your child/ren’s art on it. We will also have an art show during the Scholarship fundraiser, where you can pick up your child/ren’s ceramics piece.
Over 600 students will walk through my doors each week. With that being said, I will definitely need several parent volunteers. If you like taking pictures, don’t mind getting a little messy sometimes, or enjoy going out into the community to display artwork, you are just the person I need.
