Thank you for sharing your child with me. My name is Meghan Purcell and as your child’s art teacher, I am dedicated to providing a diverse art education for every student at Mark Twain Elementary School. This school year is my nineteenth year of teaching Elementary Art. I teach at Herbert Hoover in Bettendorf as well. I like all aspects of art and therefore chose to pursue three separate Bachelor of Arts degrees majoring in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Art Education and minoring in Art History. This ... read morehas allowed me to be a more diverse teacher and artist. I want my students to have this well-rounded education in the art classroom as well by learning about art in a variety of ways.
My husband and I have three sons. I love travelling, reading, and eating great food. I have try to remain active as an artist outside of the classroom as well. In my free time, I really enjoy painting, printmaking, and photography. As a mom to three boys, I also love all things outdoors. We love hiking, fishing, boating, and playing Hockey. My mission and goal as a teacher is to help each student come to realize that they are an incredible human being and they can do anything they put their mind to. I set very high standards for my students not only as an artist but also as lifelong learners. I will try to the best of my ability to guide your child to meet and exceed these standards. I want students not only to gain a better understanding of art but also a better understanding of themselves.
I am really looking forward to all the adventures this school year will bring. I cannot wait to get to know your child as a student and an expressive artist. Please feel free to come and experience art in my classroom at any time or contact me to learn more about your child’s art education.
