I teach K-8 Art at a small charter school in Western North Carolina. Students attend classes twice a week for a total of 90 minutes. This is my ninth year teaching Art in a school setting after many years as a dance and fine arts studio owner. I am driven by Art History and literature and try to incorporate that into many of my lessons so that my students can connect with art on many levels. I also strive to teach that the fun in art is in the doing, not necessarily the outcome. Not every work is going to be a masterpiece, but you can learn and enjoy something with every project-whether it is a new technique, getting to use a new medium, or simply finding a way to express yourself without using words.
