I was born in Ohio and lived in Iowa for 8 years before my family moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas when I was 13. As a child, I hated art class because of my teacher. I loved to draw, though, and when we moved to Arkansas my mother urged me to try it again. And what do you know! Now I teach art! I graduated from UCA in 2005 with a B.A. in art with an emphasis in Education.
Since I had such a hard time with art as a child, I take my profession seriously. In my experience, there is a direct correlati ... read moreon between how much an educator cares about her students and how hard she works: the more concern, the more diligent her efforts. The students should be every educator’s number one priority. Teachers exhibit this priority via conscientious reflection, thoughtful and standards-based lesson plans, challenging classroom activities, warm but firm application of classroom principles, and further personal development. As an art educator, I am excited about the unique opportunity I have to impact student learning and overall quality of life. Teaching is not just a job that I leave at the end of the day, but rather a lifestyle I have chosen because in my heart I know that is where I belong.
Thank you for all your wonderful children! They never cease to amaze and delight me.
