My name is Erin Wood, and I have been a full time art teacher here for the last 7 years. I graduated from Northern Illinois University in 2006 with a B.A. in art, and a B.S.ed. in Art Education. I taught in District 300 before coming here. I also recently earned my Master's degree in painting from NIU. I feel as an art teacher that it is ... read morevery important for me to be creative outside of school as well. I have participated in various group and solo shows around the Chicago area. I feel this has helped me to be a better art teacher. I love teaching art, and feel it is a very important part of our growth as a society. Many students who cannot express themselves in other areas find an outlet in art. It has been shown that students who participate in the arts are able to do better in their "core"classes such as reading and math. Please support the arts!
