I have been teaching art at Perkins Academy since the 2012-2013 academic year. I love being at Perkins! The teachers, staff ,and administration work so well together for not just the students academic growth and learning but, also their growth and development as a whole person. The parents are so supportive of the school and all the students. They spend so much time volunteering raising funds for equipment, materials, and student activities. This is truely my dream job, and I can't express enough how much I cherish working with the young artists at this wonderful school. I feel like it is my job to teach the students the elements and principals of art, about art criticism, and of course art history through specific artists and themovements and periods in art. My job also includes guiding the students safe use of materials and tools to be able to visually create their own original piece of art work. I have to admit I am amazed so very often with heir ideas and their creations. I admire their fearless problem solving of the projects I present to them. I also feel a little pride when I see their growth in their artistic endeavors. Being an art teacher as a part of this school, with these creative young artists is a dream that comes to life every day.
