" Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."- Pablo Picasso
This quote sums up my goal in life.....to find the artist and encourage them....in myself and in my students. I was born in Galveston, Texas in 1978. I have always loved being creative and different and my parents encouraged this side of me. I attended the Univ. of Texas, in Austin and graduated with my BA in Fine Arts with my focus in painting. Loving the arts and working with kids I decided to ... read more work in various places until I found the perfect fit. I started working at a unique toy store in Austin, TX. This was a great fit! I worked at this little store until I had an opportunity to move and live in the US Virgin Islands. My mom was a travel nurse and that afforded me the opportunity to try new places. I have always loved to travel. Texas, Florida, Oregon, California, Tasmania, New Zealand, Colorado and the US Virgin Islands are among the places I have lived. I started teaching at a private school in St.Croix, while living in the Virgin Islands and discovered my love for sharing the arts with my students. I taught there in St.Croix for two years and I decided to return to the States in 2015 to pursue my teacher's certification. This was the best fit! I worked as a Special Ed para and then worked as the Elementary Art Teacher at Bradford Elementary in Pueblo. I earned my teacher's certificate in K-12 Visual Arts. My fiance and I missed the warmth and water and we decided to relocate to Florida in 2017 to live in Jacksonville. I taught at a K-8th Charter school known as Coastal for the past three years. I am so happy to be back in Colorado! I will be working at Peak Expeditionary School, in Wheat Ridge and Mitchell Elementary in Golden, CO.
