Michele Minich
Hello students and families! I am so excited to be your Art Teacher this year at Patrick Henry Elementary School! This is my first year at PHES, but it is my 5th year with Martinsville City Public Schools. I was at Martinsville Middle School for 4 years as the art teacher. Before that I was with Early Head Start in Pennsylvania for 9 years, where I was able to work on developmentally appropriate art with the birth-three age group. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Art Education from Edinboro University ... read moreof Pennsylvania and I am certified in Virginia to teach K-12 art.
I have three children of my own so I also have my hands full when I get. My son Avery, is 13 and in 8th grade. My daughter Vivien, is 10 and in 5th grade. My baby girl, Evangeline, is 2 years.
I love making art with children and enjoy seeing their amazing masterpieces. At this age, it is more about the process and experimentation than the end result. My goal is to encourage students to tap into their creative side to make wonderful art, which will build self esteem, and also help them to express their emotions. All while learning artistic techniques and art theory along the way.
