I am originally from Syracuse, NY, waaaay upstate. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Savannah College of Art and Design in 1999. I was eager to return up north and attended the State University of New York at Oswego for my Masters in Art Education. In 2004 I moved to Maryland to be closer to my sister and her family. I taught for many years at Rosa Parks Middle School and one year at John Poole Middle School before joining the MKES family in 2009. I have the unique opportunity of watching m ... read moreany of the students grow, some even from 3 year olds in our PEP program all the way to 2nd graders. I also teach 3rd grade math and reading for the George B. Thomas Learning Academy Saturday School Program. As an art educator, it is part of my duty to prepare students to successfully function in, and positively contribute to society. I plan to bring exciting and creative information and ideas to my classroom with enthusiasm that will inspire my students. With a positive and personal classroom atmosphere, I hope to foster individual growth, confidence and imagination. My students will not all grow up aspiring to be artists, however they need to be able to work with others, "think outside of the box" and be creative problem solvers. Thank you parents for supporting the arts!
