I have been teaching K-12 art and Yearbook in Madison since 1997. I started as a young newly married teacher right out of college and now have two children graduated and one in high school. I work with the elementary students once a week and have the 7th grade students in semester rotations. I have a Graphic Design/Photography class that I teach as a duel credit through FHTC and then Art1, Art2 and Advanced high school art.
Professional I received my BSE in Art Education from Emporia State University in ... read more 1997. Throughout my teaching career here, I have been a volleyball, basketball and cheerleading coach. I have sponsored multiple classes and worked with the Quiz Bowl and StuGo groups. In February 2009, I published an article in Arts and Activities Magazine titled "Handbuilt Hang-Outs". My most recent article, Portraiture: A Study of Greek Gods was selected and published in Arts & Activities Magazine in its March 2016 issue. In 2020, I was awarded the KAEA Outstanding K-12 Art Teacher of the Year Award. I am blessed to have a career that allows me to quench my need to create and to feed that need in others at the same time.
