I've been an artist for as long as I can remember. I graduated with a BFA from St Cloud State University in 2004. I've been a practicing artist ever since and actively exhibit throughout the state and around the nation. I have held many teaching roles in the community, including through the Paramount Center for the Arts, Great River Regional Library, Wacosa, Independent Lifestyles LLC to name a few. I love working with students of all ages and abilities. Madison is my first public school position and I am s ... read moreo excited to be here and working with such amazing students!
My core beliefs:
-EVERYONE is creative. Creativity is both a skill and a process. It's something you can learn. And like any other skill, it's something you can get better at through practice and repeated use. -Creativity isn't just for artists. Many people don't realize that they use creativity skills every day- from organizing your room, to cooking, to figuring out how to solve a problem. Scientists, mathematicians, and parents all thrive when they strengthen their creativity muscles. -Art is about more than creating. It teaches students about different cultures, social justice, collaboration, self reflection, builds hand-eye coordination, and teaches students how to express themselves visually and verbally, to name a few.
Artsonia offers the ability for students to hold on and review work they create over their school career and to share those works with the people they love. Thanks, Artsonia!
