Not required reading, but just in case you’re curious…
Hi! I’m starting my 4th year here in Glen Rose ISD, and I’m loving it. I’m finally getting into my junior high art teacher groove after teaching 4th grade for years. 4th graders USED to have my heart, but man, these junior high kids with all their deep thoughts, shenanigans, foot-in-mouth moments (I can relate ??), tender hearts, and growing minds have become my favorite age!
My family has lived in Glen Rose for seven years n ... read moreow, and there’s no other place I’d rather be… although a cold place sounds really good right about now. On my days off, you can catch me being outside, watching documentaries, working with plants, exploring new places, or traveling and camping with my family! I actually had no major interest in art until 9th grade when I had a wild and crazy art teacher who helped me see various ways I could express myself through creating. I studied all types of art and art history in college, and I hope I can influence your child to enjoy it as well!
My husband, Reed, stays busy as a firefighter in Duncanville and was meant for the job. Harper is my spunky 10 year old who loves to read, is as strong as an ox, and loves old country music like her daddy. Luke can be found with his nose in his baseball card binder, playing with friends, or being the best brother to his little sister, Maggie. Maggie is our 2 year old who is a chatty little racoon/engineer who breaks apart and picks at all the things while singing Jesus Loves Me, Watermelon Sugar, and Old MacDonald Had a Farm. Our house is a zoo. Send help.
Expect me to be the teacher who has her hands and clothes stained with paint 80% of the time, and who gets a little too excited when a student recognizes a famous artwork or artist. And lastly, based on the eye-rolls I’ve received, I can honestly say I’m pretty good at dad jokes and playing not-cool-music in the art room. Send me all your suggestions!
