Carlyn Lechtenberg
I graduated from Upper Iowa University in May 2009, with majors in K-12 art
education, graphic design, and a coaching endorsement. I was very excited to get my first teaching job in my hometown of! I was happy to begin the first 9 years of my teaching career at the elementary level, and proud to be back in Waukon, where I once walked through those same hallways. My last 2 years at Waukon were with 6-12 art and I just loved digging deeper into projects and the thought behind them at these grades. Students at the secondary level take great pride and interest in the art courses they sign up for and I love working with kids of this age group as well.
In 2013 I earned my TAG endorsement through Morningside College followed by my Master’s degree in 2015.
Along with teaching art, I have previous experience as a K-5 TAG (also known as the talented and gifted) facilitator in my previous district. It was very exciting to work with these children and I think it ties together very nicely with my creative, artistic, and technology skills. I also coached 7th grade girls volleyball for 3 years, and assistant varsity girls track and field for 2 years.
I stepped away from teaching for one year, during Covid, to stay home with my toddlers. While I loved my time home with my boys, I am excited to be back in the classroom and this new adventure, in Elkader, as a Central Warrior, and look forward to getting to know everyone!!
In any spare time that I manage to find, I love hanging out with my husband, Nick, who farms in the Gunder area, three sons, Stirn [7] and Teff [5], Ward [1], and extended family and friends. When/if time allows, I enjoy working on my own art projects, managing my graphic design business FONT + FOTO, sharing Monat products, digital scrap-booking, ANY form of sports and recreation, the outdoors, camping, skiing, boating, the Mississippi, shopping, live entertainment, movie nights, and
traveling!...I'm usually up for anything new/fun, and always ready for a good time!
