Hello!
Current Post: Artist, Mom, and Art Teacher, Lakeview Middle School, 2023 Prior Teaching Experience: Elementary Art Teacher, Lindbergh Elementary, 2016-2023 Art Teacher, Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, 2009-2015 Education: B.A., 2007 - Visual Art, Education & Environmental Studies, Prescott College, Prescott, AZ M.A., 2018 - Curriculum & Instruction, UMKC, Kansas City, MO
Besides teaching middle school (& loving it), I have two kids ... read more of my own and am very active with their activities - swimming, basketball, and gymnastics. I also have a Blue Heeler Malamute who loves to drag me around the hills of the neighborhood . A Kansas City native, I went to the mountains and desert of Arizona to earn my Bachelor's, and returned home to the Midwest to become a mom, get my Master's, and begin teaching. I enjoy mountains, hiking and lifting, yoga, baking, photography and painting.
Art is the thing that endures - it informs and is informed so many aspects of our lives. With art practice, I believe that students can not only make sense of their experience and realize their perceptions, but also develop the ability to problem solve and make tangible their visions - to create something from a relative nothing.
A portion of any purchase you make goes back to the school art program. Thanks for being here!
