Allison Krook
Hello! My name is Allison Krook and I teach Visual Arts at Ashland Ridge Elementary.
I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2004 with a B.A. in Art Education and began my teaching career in Polk City, Iowa teaching art for the North Polk School District. I have been with Ankeny Community Schools since 2007 and was excited to be the first Visual Arts teacher at Ashland Ridge Elementary in 2008. During the summer of 2012, I received my Master's of Education from Viterbo University.
I love t ... read moreeaching kids and enjoy cultivating their creativity with a variety of artistic experiences. In my classroom students are taught to be reflective, critical thinkers who are self motivated and enjoy solving problems in unique and interesting ways. Art History is infused in many of the lessons I teach so that my students are not only appreciators of art but they are aware that art has been an integral part of the world around us for as long as we know!
In my spare time I enjoy painting, drawing, listening to music and going to concerts with my husband Benjy. I also love to spend time with my miniature dachshund, Leonard, who loves to nap in the sun and snuggle on the couch!
