Meet the Teachers  at Gloucester Community Arts Charter School (Gloucester, Massachusetts)

Mr. Chris Ahearn, 6th and 7th grade Social Studies Having grown up and attended Gloucester schools for most of his life, Mr. Ahearn has a unique perspective on being a part of the education system here at GCA. Mr. Ahearn attended Saint Ann's School from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Upon leaving St. Ann's, he attended Gloucester High School, graduating from there in 2004 as a part of the National Honor Society. After high school, he attended Saint Anselm College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, a Certificate of Study in Spanish, ... read moreand a Certificate of Study in Latin American Studies. After working in the private sector briefly, Mr. Ahearn began working for Manchester-Essex Regional High School as both a ski and soccer coach, eventually becoming a full-time member of the Special Education staff as a Paraeducator. This past June, Mr. Ahearn earned a Masters in Education from Franklin Pierce University with recognition from Pi Lambda Theta, the national educators' honor society for academic achievement. This August, Mr. Ahearn joined the GCA staff, teaching four sections of Social Studies, and is thrilled with the enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity the students have shown so far this school year.

Ms. Breanne Sette, 8th Grade English and Social Studies Breanne Sette is the 8th grade English/History teacher at Gloucester Community Arts Charter School. A native of Vermont, Ms. Sette moved to Massachusetts to earn a B.A. from Wheaton College in Norton Massachusetts, where she majored in English, while minoring in Studio Art and Philosophy. She then received a Masters in Teaching English from Salem State University, where she supervised the college writing center, and spent a semester researching how to integrate arts into the English Language Arts curricul ... read moreum. Teaching for four years at a college preparatory high school in Brighton, Ms. Sette worked as a member of the school?s Writing Across the Curriculum committee to help all disciplines integrate writing into their classes. Through the school?s relationships with Boston College and Emmanuel College, Ms. Sette supervised five practicum students in the department, collaborating on teaching and the reading and writing processes. Just recently moving to Gloucester from Somerville, Ms. Sette has been excited to explore the community and Gloucester?s recreation with her dog, Remi, and husband, Ryan.
