I am passionate about providing a creative holistic learning environment to benefit development of the student’s mind, body, and spirit. Art is relevant and meaningful to students’ lives. The creative and critical thinking learned through artistic experimentation and creation is integral to our human experience. Understanding our relationships—to the world around us and its people and cultures—encourages the formation of a healthy self-identity. I strive to help students define and construct their own creative journeys in terms of what interests and challenges them within the context of our global and local communities. I believe in inquiry-based, student-centered exploration that encourages critical and ethical thinking about our world. Through this journey students form a sense of who they are integrated with an understanding of their roles and responsibilities in their communities and environment. Simply : art teaches students who they are and how to work and create together.
