Welcome to Mrs. Sukowaski's Art Class!
My role as your child's art teacher is to make Art Class a positive experience for every student regardless of his or her artistic ability. I strive to encourage my students to use their creative brains to express themselves freely. In my classroom, I strive to build a positive community where every student feels safe and cared for.
In Art Class, your child will be exposed to a range of different artists, art styles, and art mediums. I encourage my students to ta ... read morelk intelligently about art and see the beauty in the world around them. They will learn how to use the Elements of Art (line, shape, color, value, form, and texture) and apply the Principles of Design (pattern, contrast, emphasis, balance, proportion, harmony and rhythm) in his or her artwork. We will also discuss art's evolution through history and explore multicultural crafts.
This year will look a little different. We will be utilizing a Google Bitmoji Classroom to deliver the lessons. I encourage you as parents at home to explore my classroom, view the lessons with your child and create art at home. I would like you to photograph your child's work and post it to his or her Artsonia Page so that we can build a classroom digital portfolio. I will also be able to view your child's work and leave comments.
My goal as your child's art teacher is to instill lessons that apply in the world around us: ~ Within the arts, there is no right or wrong answer. The arts teach our children that problems can have more than one solution and that questions can have more than one answer. ~The arts teach multiple perspectives. One large lesson is that there are many ways to see and interpret the world. ~The arts teach the gift of problem solving. The arts require the ability to apply several steps in a logical order. Students problem solve to see the finished product. ~The arts teach students that small differences can have a large effect. ~The arts enable students to have an experience where they can discover how they feel without the use of words.
Art provides students with an opportunity in a different atmosphere from the standard classroom setting. It will be fun, relaxing, hands-on, messy challenging, and will provide students with the think outside of the box mindset.
