I am an Art Teacher at the Wisconsin International School in De Pere, Wisconsin. WIS is an independent, IB school for grades K-8, and it is a fabulous place that fosters creative, inquiry-based learning in all aspects of its curriculum.
I received my BFA in Studio Arts from the University of Colorado, Boulder. I later received a Postgraduate Certificate from the Scuola Dell' Arte Della Medaglia in Rome, Italy, where I studied bas-relief sculpture and die engraving for the production of coins and medalli ... read moreons. I lived in Italy for seven years before moving back to Wisconsin to work as a medallic sculptor for various mints and organizations. I have created designs for the US Mint and sculptures for the State Department and Air Force One, as well as several private individuals and local businesses.
I have always found joy and strength in making art, and it is this joy that I hope to transmit to my students. I believe in mastering a wide variety of techniques and mediums, and I love to use recycled materials and traditional materials in unexpected ways. I want students to know that there is no mistake in art, that every mistake leads them down a new(and probably more interesting) road. Art is discovery, art is fun, art is joy!
