Angel Kaip
Hi BMS!
My name is Mrs. Kaip and I am so excited to be your art teacher this school year!
A little about me:
I have loved to draw from a young age. My grandma was a painter and my mom was always super crafty. So, I guess the creative gene is strong with me.
In high school I had the most amazing art teacher and she inspired to me to want to become an art teacher as well.
In 2003, I graduated with an Associate's degree in Pre-Secondary Education from Henry Ford Community College. I graduated in ... read more 2006 from Wayne State University with a bachelors in science and a teaching certificate in K-12 Visual Arts Education. I did some substitute teaching right after graduating and then received a job at a charter school in Downtown Detroit where I worked for four years teaching K-6th grade visual arts. In Fall of 2011, I began teaching in Woodhaven-Brownstown School District at Wegienka Elementary. While there I attended Walden University where I earned my Masters Degree in Technology Integration. I have since worked at Yake Elementary, Erving Elementary, and now BMS!
My favorite medium to work in is drawing, pen and ink, and soft-sculpture (I crochet amigurumi!). I especially like observational drawing and creating mandalas and zentangles. I also really LOVE color theory and it is one of my favorite things to teach. In my free time I enjoy dancing, powerlifting (I currently hold 5 state records!), drinking coffee (especially Biggby), crocheting, swimming, listening to music, eating cookie dough, reading, relaxing, kayaking, adding sparkles to things, and spending time with my family and friends!
I have a husband named Shane, a daughter named Charlotte, a son named Monroe, a recuse Pit-adore named Blue, a great dane named Nero, and a 20 year-old orange tabby cat named Smalls (my favorite movie is The Sandlot!).
I am looking forward to learning and creating with you all!
