Meet Christy Davis
from Farragut Intermediate School
Knoxville, Tennessee
Biography
I have been roaming the halls of Farragut Intermediate for over 20 years now. Before teaching in public schools I painted murals, faux finishes, and furniture. I tend to be 'off the wall' with ideas, actions, and opinions. I have heard rumors that I occasionally dance on my desk or put my foot behind my head. I can not confirm nor deny those rumors at this time. I can say that I attempt to have my classroom experiences like no other.
I have always loved art but not very confident in the beginning. . . still have my moments. I am an emotional, sentimental dork and have a picture taken by my third grade Art teacher hanging in my studio at home, as well as a plastic cup with a marker drawing of my dog, Daisy, on my desk made by yours truly in first grade.
My skills have improved, fortunately. Painting and oil pastels were my first love but found watercolor with marker to be just as fun. I have never met a Sharpie I can't warm up to. For several years I have had a thing for trees. Draw them. Paint them. Carve them from clay. These days I am just trying to paint what moves me.
