Biography

Hello, parents!

I’m Mrs. Shannon Tolhurst, delighted to teach Art at Doral Red Rock this year. Let me share a bit about myself. I’m a Las Vegas native and have lived here for over five decades. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. My journey with C.C.S.D. started over 30 years ago, fueled by my passion for art and education.

After retiring, I strongly wanted to return to inspiring young artists. In 2017, I took on the role of Elementary Art teacher at Doral FireMesa, an enriching experience.

I hold a Master's in Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and I’m certified to teach Art K-12. My studies in Art Integration at Lesley emphasized the value of blending music, drama, and visual arts across various core subjects. I’ve taught art at both the middle and high school levels through out my career.

I look forward to a fantastic year of creativity and learning with your child!
