Meet Renee Collins

Biography
Hello Wilson artists and families! My name is Mrs. Collins, and I have been teaching here in Westfield since 2020. During my college education I studied printmaking, art of the book, and graphic design, as well as drawing, painting and sculpture. For several years I lived in NYC, where I worked as a successful art director.
As my family began to grow I chose to be a stay at home parent. While raising my children and helping them to explore their creativity, I realized that art education was something I wanted to pursue. For several years I taught private classes in my home studio for elementary and middle school aged children. Not long after I was accepted to the Alternate Route program for NJ Certification, and became a second career art teacher.
Before joining the Wilson community, I taught art to grades PreK through 6 in Roseland, as well as elementary students in Scotch Plains-Fanwood. When I’m not creating with my students at school or for myself at home, I love gardening, listening to & making music, hiking, travel, yoga, and spending time with my husband, our two daughters, and two cats.
BFA in Fine Art, SUNY Purchase. NJ State Certification Visual Art K-12.
