Biography
Coming from the Bay Area, the love of fog and bridges is strong with me. My life so far has taken me to many different places in search of new knowledge, experiences, and interactions with people from all walks of life. I have been learning about and making art along the way. I enjoy travel, painting, bead making, film, donuts, reading, the color turquoise and a million other things.
After studying Studio Art at the University of California San Diego and Art History at the University of Barcelona, Spain. I graduated by celebrating my first solo art show, exhibiting oil paintings and photographs. Throughout this time I was working as an Instructor and Curatorial Assistant at the National Institute of Art and Disabilities, where I supported and managed adult artists with physical and mental disabilities.
From there, I earned my teaching credential at California State University, Hayward while simultaneously teaching Art at Richmond High School. Attempting to balance my personal artistic growth and those of my students, my need to focus on my own creations won out. This brought me to Los Angeles in pursuit of Special FX Makeup Artistry. I worked as a Makeup Artist in the print and film industry for four years. I made up monsters and models. After 5 years, I decided that the work I was doing in “the industry” was really not fulfilling me in the way being an educator did. I returned to Art education and have been working with our youth in the classroom ever since. Going on 14 years!
