Biography

Hello! I'm Alys, a K-12 Art Teacher and henna body art artist from Mancos, Colorado. I graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2014 with my Bachelor of Arts in Education with the Art Teaching Option, and again in 2019 with a master's in teacher leadership. I have been teaching art publicly and privately for eight years, and I love my work!
My passion lies in education. I believe that each child and person that I encounter is an artist, and with a growth mindset, anyone can achieve their academic and artistic dreams. I have been working with Seed Studio for the last eight years, teaching summer camps and some adult classes.
I run my own business, Star Hopper Art, and I am an enthusiastic paddle-boarder, baker, henna artist, maker, and oil painter. Outside of my time at Mancos schools, I can be found walking or playing with my black lab, Mezi, cooking delicious food with my friends, or practicing henna art.
