Spring has Sprung...and the Art Season has Begun
Green grass, art shows, flowers, and art competitions: it must be that time of year... Spring and the Art season are in full bloom! There will be several opportunities to support your children in the Arts this season and listed below are each of these occassions. I look forward to all the excitement the next three weeks brings.
A Night with the Arts at Triad Middle School
Tuesday, May 7th - 5th & 6th Grade
The Arts are in full force this evening: The band performs, the choir sings, and each student has an artwork piece on display. This night is sure to be a delight to many of your senses. This year the art show will be more interactive with hands on activities and opportunities to be involved with the work. The TMS quilt, featuring student work, will be on display and raffle tickets being sold that evening as well to fund the Humanities Unit. The concert starts at 7 pm.

Art in the Mall
Saturday, May 11 - Sunday, May 19
Each year the Upper Valley Mall in Springfield showcases work from area schools for an entire week. This is a wonderful opportunity to share our students artistic achievements with the community. Some students that will have work on display are as follows: Ellie Osterholt, Danny Lake, Danica Seifert, Trinidy Walton, Audrey Lightle, Paxton Smith, and Kylee Overfield...but that's just to name a few. There will be a wide range of grade levels and works on display.
Champaign County Middle School Art Competition - 119 Miami Street, Urbana
Thursday, May 23 at 6 pm
The climax of the Art season: a friendly Art competition between our county's middle schools. This year there is a change of location. A reception will be held at 119 Miami Street in downtown Urbana, Thursday May 23 at 6 pm. Works will be on display, students will be recognized, and prizes will be awarded to the top three competitors in each category. The categories are: Drawing (black & white), Drawing (color), Sculpture, Printmaking, Painting, Other 2-D media, and Craft. Students representing Triad Middle School are as follows: Kylee Overfield, Paxton Smith, Summer Doty, Trinidy Walton, Brianna Eaton, Alec Lowery, Ali Dixon, Carrie Shirk, Hannah Judy, Keely Crothers, Jessie Woodard, Lexi Moore, Kiki Zizzo, Chris Hinkle, Ellie Osterholt, Evan Tukesbrey-Lehn, Carly Brennan, Hannah Overfield, Kaiden Forrer, Hayley Filipovic, Kayleigh Rice, Colby McConnell, Colby Watson, Summer Doty, Leira Smith, and Audrey Lightle.
